Strategies for Navigating the Health Care System

In August 2006, the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE, www.nefe.org) and Georgetown University’s Health Policy Institute (hpi.georgetown.edu & healthinsuranceinfo.net) collaborated on three guides to assist consumers in finding and keeping health insurance coverage. These three guides are now available online for free:

PLUS: Evaluating Health Insurance Choices Worksheet (A 2-page worksheet to help compare cover options under private insurance.)

Thanks to the folks at ResourceShelf for the links to these great resources.

Find movie reviews and film information online and in print at the Library. It can be hard to keep up, what with hot new cable series, old films remastered and enhanced, as well as the current crop of Hollywood blockbusters. We’ve gathered some tools to get you watching what you want to see. On the Web, check out:

  • IMDB.com - the Internet Movie Database is arguably the biggest, most comprehensive site on current and past movies and television. Has more information on the people in movies, new and old, and is very searchable. Great for those “wasn’t he in….?” questions.
  • RottenTomatoes.com - Best known for aggregating reviews from newspapers across the country, this site is much more commercial than it used to be. However, if you pick your film, and click the Reviews tab, you’ll see different opinions from a lot of sources as well as plot summaries, trivia and a lot more.
  • At the MoviesTV.com - The online home for the Siskel/Ebert/Ropert reviews program, they now feature The Balcony Archive, with reviews of over 5,000 movies with commentary and video clips. The review franchise started back in 1975, but not all were saved. The list starts in about 1985.
